No not even on wholemeal bread Dex
In those days many villages had their own abattoir , the school friend lived next to one and her dad worked there and brought home many 'goodies'

My dad used to like chitterlings, I never liked the look of them and and only found out what they were when I grew up.

Food is food and I suppose eating it would depend on how hungry you were at the time. Balut is really non pickled pickled eggs and a delicacy amongst the Filipinos. There there are the bush meat mealy grubs eaten alive by the Aussie Aboriginals. . makes me shudder at the thought.
I'll stick to a nice salt beef sandwich for my light meal thanks

Baby chickens ! That’s fairly tame. They eat bats and all kinds of gross things.
I find it difficult to not judge sometimes
Culture is a huge influence and we certainly don’t understand other peoples cultures.

Balut are not that simple. They are fertilised (usually) duck eggs that have grown for a number of days until close to the point of hatching then popped into boiling water to cook, cracked open and eaten whole - beak feet and feathers. Salt beef on rye? Great if no butter but with a bit of mustard --- unless you're a cow worshiper.

My slight concern is that if an ET lands in China they'll eat the bugger!
