I'm Nanna too for the same reason as yours.

My mum was Nanna to my children, although we had a Nan (Dad's mum) and Grandma (Mum's mum)

Our first grandaughter couldn't say grandad, she coined her own word for him.... Gagga...he remains Gagga to all now.

Offhand, the only other ones I can think of that I've heard (in Britain) is 'boyo' (my stepfather (Welsh) used to call my son that until my son asked him why he called him a boil) which I think is a term used for young male children and 'bairn' I've heard used in the NE (all children).

Re: Grandma, granma or gran!?

In Aldi last Thursday I heard a chap of about 25 calling his son of about 5 "mate". This doesn't seem right to little old-fashioned me .

Re: Grandma, granma or gran!?

I'm nanny to my grandchildren even though they are grown-up now and hubby is granddad. I used to call my mother mum and my father dad.
