Yes that's why they bang on about it being the main one though isn't it. Perhaps if they were a bit more honest and listed all causes would be more helpful but fatties are the target these days.

No, they just state that gout it is 'most common' in the group of people with those conditions, that is not to say that others don't get it.

Main cause, most common really just different words. We won't be hearing about the cases caused by medication in the media I am wiling to bet.

Well the Guardian have mentioned them........quote "the condition is also related to diabetes, kidney complaints, obesity and medications such as diuretics, or water tablets, for high blood pressure."...unquote.

These are medications prescribed for conditions often but not always linked to obesity.

I remember a couple of years ago my Mum had a bad episode of Pseudo-gout. Her knee swelled up like an elephants leg and she had to have an operation in the end to drain it and flush it all out.
