A wise person once said 'you love different people for different reasons'
so, let's all love each other.

Now that's one that some of us might have encountered, I know I have and it's similar in some ways to having a row or a spat with someone then something awful happens - well said Pats.

I've never had the latter but when my Dad died not only did I feel a terrible loss but I never really said I loved him.

I've regretted that for years now.

I should explain that my parents split when I was 9 and I didn't see my Dad again until I was almost 40. stevmk2

Re: Saying I love you

You may not need to be told things, but sometimes it's just nice to hear them. However, I'd be miffed if somebody sent me a note in garbled 'text speak'. If something is important enough to say, then it should be said properly.

^^^This.

My family and I tell each every time we part company - my son will often just walk up to me, put his arms around me and say 'love you mum' for real reason - I think that is lovely. My last 'boyfriend' would ring at all odd times to say he was thinking of me and just wanted to tell me that he loved me. I thought that was nice too,.

I don't understand why people feel it shouldn't be said - when it's your birthday, people say happy birthday but you know it's what they would wish for you anyway - it's just nice that people care enough to tell you.

Still, we are all different and as long as we end up with like-minded people, it isn't really a big problem is it.
