Afal is apple in Welsh, and as most people would know Cariad means love.
We discovered those words on the wall when we got back from my father's funeral in Guernsey in October 2005. He had been a horticulturalist, growing tomatoes and flowers. In Guernsey tomatoes had been called 'love apples'.

The Blue Horizon Hotel in St Martins Tara.....It's a bit way out but close to the Coast Path and that's the place I spend most of my time. The walk from St Martins Point past the Jerbourg Hotel to St Peter Port along the coast path is beautiful but strenuous. I must walk it several times during a visit to Guernsey.
