Me too... I have no qualms about saying something to them, and I don't feel guilty either.

My daughter used to mutter 'Muuuuuuuuum!!!
However, she's now at the 'turn round and glare stage'. Hopefully, she'll then progress into 'will you please shut your gobs' stage

Re: would you speak up

A friend and me went to the cinema, we were about 14 at the time and during the film two lads who were sat behind us had been trying to impress some girls and were laughing and talking loudly. Eventually I ran out of patience and turned round and asked them to keep it down. They were silent until the end of the film.....

They waited for me outside and gave me a good kicking.....I never forgot the lesson, So I would carefully weigh up the noise makers in future before being so bold....

Yes OGF, it is strange, what some sections of Society are capable of, one should never forget this, regardless of their current social situation.

Re: would you speak up

I'd ask them to be quiet in a nice friendly manner.
I think most people would respond in a positive way.

No point in getting angry.

Ha ha yes, me too. I even complain to people chatting in quiet carriages on the railway I always try to be nice about it though that doesn't always work. I had to describe one woman as sounding like a Harpie before she shut up (and, I suspect, then only because she didn't know what a Harpie was). Her husband just smiled...

Re: would you speak up

If they were in the seats in front of me nattering away, I would ask them politely to shut the f**k up, giving them the Floydy Scowl.
If they were behind me, probably not as I wouldn't like an ice cream down the back of my neck.

Re: would you speak up

I'd shh but I'd probably try to move rather than confront. Had a nasty experience at a cinema years ago. I've never been since. So I'm wary of tackling anyone. If they can't see its rude nothing anyone will say will change them IMO .

Re: would you speak up

It's less risky speaking out at this age, cos, if it turns nasty, you are more likely to get the public sympathy vote, just a bit of comfort, whilst nursing your broken nose.

Re: would you speak up

I am shocked that so many people think a polite request, to be a bit quieter, would turn nasty. I have never experienced anybody being nasty in a circumstance like this, but I always try to make my request in a friendly manner.
