Re: Microwave

Our microwave oven is the only thing I use for my cordon bleu cooking.

This usually involves butter beans, baked beans on toast and the occasional ready meal.

Re: Microwave

I only have a very basic microwave. I more or less only use it for occasional defrosting, or reheating, or cooking my porridge, so I don't want a fancy one with loads of knobs and dials I would never understand or use.

Re: Microwave

Yes I reheat meals in it because everyone comes home different times, defrost, heat baked beans and cook tomatoes in it that way I know they are safe for me to eat, do them in a normal pan on the cooker and they are burned before I trust them.

We make mug cakes too for pudding, and my husband likes microwaved scrambled eggs.

Re: Microwave

I have a Panasonic Turbo bake Convection microwave and it is great for cooking jacket potatoes in a short time. They taste just like out of the oven!
l also, just use it for porridge, scrambled eggs, making custard, reheating food and warming plates!
I dare not look at it whilst in motion as someone once said they can blind you! Is that true?

I know some people don't like the way microwave ovens cook and I'd heard of food being 'nuked' before. A short step from there to call it a food nuker.

Ours seems similar to the one Artangel has mentioned (or the same). I do much of my cooking in it, using it as either a fan oven or a microwave oven. The gas hob on the cooker is used when it comes to cooking fresh vegetables but the Panasonic combination oven is used nearly every dinner time for something or other.

We've used microwave ovens for around 35 years and will probably die young.
