Re: US trade deal

What are we go!ng to be selling in all these proposed deals!
What are our products?
Why dont we get used to it, our highly educated leadership
ofv all persuations decided uk no longer needed to produce
anything to survive? and so we became what they called a
consumer driven economy!
So, we are now all consumers and apparently we have to
consume to survive!
Therfore we do not need any deal with anybody, THEY need
a deal with us, we are the buyers, THEY NEED us
This system has prevailed for the last 25yrs at least, why
should it not continue for ever?
Any answers from banyone??

Regards Donkeyman!

Yes, we are primarily a consumer-driven society now. We produce 'services'.

However, I have a suspicion that after we have left the EU and we are able to make our own decisions, we could see some new industries developing.

If our rules, taxes and financial expertise is developed correctly, it may pay manufacturers to see our country, once again, the right place to invest.

Easily produced products will always be cheaper when made in third world countries and places like China and India where labour is cheap and plentiful.

However, when it comes to more complicated and high-end products, they will need more highly skilled workers. Germany is very similar in that respect, and I believe that we can still emulate their success.

You were never before so correct. However, to do that you need brains, and those you import from the EU. Since EU citizens have no future in the UK, you will have to learn to think again for yourself . Chosing to leave was the best example of british lack to think .

Funny how so many people from all over the world seem to want to come to Oxford and Cambridge universities for their higher education.

Admittedly, in addition to their world-beating status, they also have the benefit of working in the English language, the world's lingua franca.

Apparently you don't know it concerns exchange students. There is even an EU program for it (Erasmus). It means that for every foreign student a british student goes abroad to broaden his/her horizon.
Especially british students want the program to continue post brexit.
