Re: Gumbud Leisurely Scribbles (part 4)

Raise your glasses and have a beer
For you’ve all been scribbling for nearly a year
Writing wrongs and wronging writes
Codswallop, blarney, and all sorts of tripe
As we head bravely into the great beyond
And woe betide those who try to abscond
For a pillar of salt they will become
And end up curing some fat Pigs bum.

Thanking you all for your excellent company and wishing you all a very happy New Year.

Scribblers and dribblers
2015 meant no Defibrillers
Let's not get complacent
Keep those arteries vacant
Make the verses ethereal
Purge the bad Cholesterol
Make the posts bolder
Keep the Chips on the shoulder.

Bring on 2016xxxxxxx.

Re: Gumbud Leisurely Scribbles (part 4)

This year will soon be ended,
many new folks I have befriended
I missed a lot of the year I know,
before I knew it I’d passed GO
I meant to do better in every way,
kinder and more patient every day
Life can bite you on the bum ,
on the same day good news has come
My advice to anyone, for what it’s worth.
Study Pearl Bucks tome named “The Good Earth”

I know its an odd end, but I enjoyed reading the book recently and it rhymed

Re: Gumbud Leisurely Scribbles (part 4)

We used to have a certain regular in the pub back in the sixties, his name was very unusual and hard to forget, his singing was even harder to forget, Oliver Shoehead was unique in the way he presented a song when it became his turn to sing on a Saturday night, there was no stage in the pub, everyone just sat where they were drinking, but of course some used to stand up and perform their own actions to the song, someone would appoint themselves MC and call on folks to sing, that singer then had what they used to term ‘A noble call’ and they could select another singer of their choice and so on. Oliver could never remember the words of a song and as he never learned to read and write he relied on what he heard whenever the song was on the radio and as I said his memory was terrible. he always wanted to be the first to sing a new song in the pub and he looked forward to Saturday nights when he would sit there patiently all dressed up to the nines, If he wasn’t called to sing he would get sulky for the rest of the night and stay silent. I’ll never forget his rendition of the Connie Francis song.

Dipstick con your Dollar
Hold a tail on you
Dipstick con your Dollar
Says you stare at glue
Bet your rotten collar you an eye are two
Cos dipstick con your Dollar says you stare at glue.

How the wife and me kept straight faces I'll never know, wonder where he is now.

Re: Gumbud Leisurely Scribbles (part 4)

Christmas Past.

The big table is empty and the Turkey’s all gone
It was lovely but it didn’t last for too long
Family, they cleaned it off right down to the bones
And today I’m reduced to eating the wife’s scones
The Ham looked nice when laid out on the table
Now that too is reduced to a fable
But the dog is still smiling, his belly is full
Christmas for him was far from being dull
He’s over at his bowl curing his thirst
To Look at him now you’d think he would burst
Well thats it, herself and me are truly knackered
You might say we are both Christmas crackered.

Re: Gumbud Leisurely Scribbles (part 4)

I have read that the Ears are the only part of your body that keep growing, besides finger and toe nails that is. Noah was supposed to be 300 years old when he died, I would love to see a photo of him just before he died, I can imagine the head would be enveloped by Ears and not visible, just two huge Ears. they say that we’ll all be living way into the 100’s in a few decades time, I wonder have they taken the Ear problem into consideration?
Also, If you have big ears does it mean that you are a good sympathetic listener or you are an avid earwigger?

I do tink the poetry has come on quite nice
there's been bards round the table not once, maybe thrice
and now dat the battries have run out and dried
let's re-charge them all and post till we're fried

who knows what the new year has for us in store
it can only get better to be sure to be sure
and as me old Da would once say to me
give each day ya best lad let ya blood curdle run free

HNY - I've made it to 2016 and just waiting for you bastards to catch up as usual - 5.13 local time WA OZ

Re: Gumbud Leisurely Scribbles (part 4)

We all arrived 21 hours ago Gumbud.
I'm pleased to say I had two winners at the races today, nice start to the new year, pray may it continue. The weather is lousy here by the way, hasn't stopped raining and blowing all day.

The buckets UP and buckets DOWN of 2015

We have survived most extremist attacks and are fighting back with renewed vigor aided and abetted by the more moderates of all persuasion

Stock markets are recovering after a battering

Compassion for displaced people has been exemplified by the German nation

Exploration into outer pace continue on a bipartisan basis

Those who care still outnumber those who don’t

Peace is slowly coming to Africa

Etc etc

Floods and fires around the world seem to be in their ascendency

Extremism still exists lest we forget

Has good comedy around the world diminished?

The poor still remain poor and often forgotten

Obama has still not turned around gun control in America BUT the same applies in South America and Africa

and this last year I lost my younger brother to leukaemia despite the marvels of modern science and something I will never get over
Etc etc
