Re: Gumbud Leisurely Scribbles (part 4)

Being the young fella that you are and still working Pug rejoice in the fact, soon you will be rewarded and join the ranks of the great army of state pensioners, free travel, fuel allowance, free TV license, free lazing about etc., and all your time is your own, just hang in there for a bit longer mate, and on the next miserable Monday morning that comes along smile, hop and skip into that cab of yours, stick your head out the window then start singing “”Hi ho, hi ho, it’s off to work I go…” all the kids will cheer you as you make your merry way along the highway, great for the moral of the public in these testing times, you might even get an OBE, I got mine this morning, one boiled egg.

Re: Gumbud Leisurely Scribbles (part 4)

I had a single hair upon my chest
It grew quite long and curly
You couldn’t see it through my vest
I kept it secret, for my Shirley

Then one day I plucked it out
It caused me grief and sorrow
Shirley gave me a vicious clout
Said grow it back tomorrow

I watered and warmed the spot
But it never grew again
Just a wee hole and a dot
Now Shirley’s going out with other men.

Now the moral of this tale my friends is, it’s not quantity that counts it’s quality.

Yes,another 03.30 start, yes, another wide one,escort,etc...only,today,ye used our own land Rovers as the police wanted £350!!!

Ok,so we started out, were doing fine....then the poxy lift pump seized...so I'm now sat awaiting a replacement part. yawn.

Oh,DEEP joy. So...as we were causing a MIGHTY tailback-we got a police presence after all. [my bum looks SO cute in this pic, don'tcha think?

Yes I suppose it is a nice bum if I was into such things. Let the girls on here answer that one.
Can I ask, why don't you retire?

I think you hit the nail on the head there RJ, some folks love to keep on the go, my Dad was like that and he lived well into his 90’s, unfortunately it didn’t rub off onto me.
That photo reminds me of an old ad they used to have on TV here for “Albany” cigarettes, A man is working on his truck on a hot day and goes to sit under a leafy tree, the narrater says in an American accent “Job’s almost done, but you just can’t relax now can yeh John, have an Albany cool mist smoke and then complete it” He wouldn't have to ask me twice.

Re: Gumbud Leisurely Scribbles (part 4)

Do you tell the brain what to do or does the brain tell you what to do? I had a problem and wanted to figure out something, I wanted to keep a dislodged tooth veneer from slipping off while the cement behind it set, this actually happened to me and it was of some urgency because we were going out later that night, the dentist uses a special gun that cures the cement in seconds by ultra light, I didn't happen to have one of these very expensive guns. I lay back, closed me eyes and sent the problem to the brain and the brain sent back the answer, which was to put a tiny tiny amount of superglue on the very tip of the back part of the veneer then put the cement on, the superglue will bond instantly to a tiny part of the tooth and hold it in place for several hours while the cement dries. I thanked the brain for that solution, carried it out and it worked perfectly, the wife asked me how did I think of that solution and I said I didn’t, the brain did. The veneer is in place to the present day.
So the brain provides suggestions and it’s up to you if you want to carry them out or not, that means there are two things at work here -you and your brain, and they both need each other to function, but who is really the boss, you or your brain? No wonder very little is know about the human brain, it’s so complicated, but wonderous all the same, and do you know what I discovered? the less you use it the longer it lasts.

Re: Gumbud Leisurely Scribbles (part 4)

Today we had 4 Oktas, not a bad day at all. Now before you google Oktas did you truly know what it meant? My guess is you didn’t, I always wondered how they measure clouds and I was not surprised to find they haven’t got a way, as I’ve always expected with weathermen they just look up and guess, oh to be in with the money for old rope crowd.

“Recording cloud type and cloud-cover is done manually, using the naked eye. Meteorologists measure cloud-cover in eighths of the sky or oktas.
• 0 oktas = a completely cloudless sky
• 4 oktas = half the sky is covered in clouds
• 8 oktas = the sky is fully clouded-over” ( Wiki)

Simple eh?

So what is 10 oktas?
As for the working out a problem with the brains help. How I go about it, if I have a problem with something that needs to be fixed but not by conventional means, I just sit and look at the problem.
Then ideas with come to me, and further thought will define the ease to complete the job/problem.

They haven't managed to get to the 10 Oktas yet Emjay, it gets too cloudy for them to see, so they go back in for another cup of tea, see?

So after further thought and you now have the best way of going about the job in hand, does the brain tell you to get up off your ass and get started, or do you tell the brain that you will decide when to start it in your own good time?
