They are expensive because they are harder to make and stronger, I have composite and it would take some breaking down, it locks all around and it did cost a lot.

Too often, uPVC or composite doors just look wrong in a property, mainly being unable to match the age and overall look of the property and the locale. Look at the disaster with white uPVC windows in properties that have ruined the "look" of a row of properties, semis that don't match. For one of the best looks, go to Dublin and look and admire.

I did want a wood door originally, but I was told that the timber these day is it so good. I can believe this as they do not let timber mature.
Before I had my double glazing fitted, I had the original wood door that was there when the house was built.
My double glazing is metal framed and brown in colour. The front door was getting worn. That is how I explain it, so it needed replacing.
This present composite one is also a matching brown.

Composite are better quality, but more expensive, open and shut case.

I had glass panels put in mine.
