Our house, and the house we are about to buy are sold subject to contract, which encompasses all sorts of things, including a contractor sent round by our buyer to check-out a "damp problem" found on her survey.

We have not tried to hide any of the problems that our house has.
It's 89 years old, was built cheaply by the then Borough Council and "maintained" by the same council until 32 years ago.
In other words it was not really cared for by the Council as it was social housing.

The people we bought this house from did everything on the cheap - and it showed.

In the 21 years we've been here we have tried to address those problems, spent a lot of money and it seems we have been conned, due to our lack of experience and a trust in British tradesmen that was ill-placed.

In the 10 minutes that the bloke was here, we were told that the entire Damp Course could have been replace for £500, (we spent £1000 on having it "upgraded"), and our contractor in 2010 used the "wrong" plaster internally!

We are hoping that our buyer will not be fazed by this because the bloke who came told us that our house is in good condition, despite those points.

All in all, not the best of news at this stage and we are awaiting OUR surveys results today. stevmk2
