Cleaners

Another query!

Our new house has all new wooden flooring downstairs but there's fitted carpet in the bedrooms so we will need a vacuum still but our current upright's not suitable and will be awkward in the tiny hallways by the door and the landing so we'll have to get something more portable and light that can do both.

We've had a brief look around and I don't know what to go for as my wife hates the Dysons her Mum and brother's got and they are very expensive too.

Mind you, I've tried Mum's one - pathetic!

Any recomendations? stevmk2

Re: Cleaners

What about a Henry? They're quite small and manoeuvrable.
BTW, I love my Dyson!

Re: Cleaners

Sounds like you need a henry - not the lightest around but pretty manoeuvrable and indestructible, you can get parts really easy and mend them yourself pretty much.

You can also for about £30 get an airo brush that gives you a foot to get dog hair etc off the carpet.

Re: Cleaners

What about a hand held " Dirt Devil " that would easily do the stairs and landing if you dont mind kneeling down and bending over..

Re: Cleaners

There are plenty on the market ... Tesco, Argos have some good inexpensive ones but avoid Dyson .. he is a conman multi millionaire who has made his fortune by selling ridiculously high priced junk !....IMO of course

Miele - high quality with spares from their Abingdon HQ. Had two. First lasted 22 years, and current one only 15 so far.

Yep ... or a Hettie (pink girlie version).

I ALWAYS had upright vacuums until the last one stopped picking up properly. Did my usual search on the Internet and after several committee meetings with 'himself' I decided on a Hettie !!!

OMG ... this is fantastic. Loads of suck and a huge bag, which seldom needs emptying .. PLUS it's not an expensive buy and has a silly face

Re: Cleaners

They are great little vacs sadly can't cope with dog hair though so we stick with our dyson animal which although heavy does the trick.

Re: Cleaners

I did a product test on cordless vacs Steve, not this one but I did test an earlier model from AEG when I did it. None came even half way to as good as a corded vac, all had pretty poor suckability and most didn't recharge to the optimum after the initial charging cycle. I wouldn't have one is anyone paid me to the only plus is they are lighter.

Tested 14 models.
