Summer bird visitors.

On my walk this morning there were loads of Swifts and House Martins flying around.Then all of a sudden they were gone en route to Africa,sure sign Autumn's here.

Birds migrating. We get a huge huge flock of grackles every year about this time and there are literally thousands of them. They stop here for a day or two to eat, rest and then fly off to their distinction.

I think I may have seen only one Swift this year, in flight but I haven't seen a house Martin for years. It's a shame, they were one of my favourite birds.

I don't think I've ever seen a housemartin, not sure what they look like, must go google it. While I really like birds I am not very up on species.

Rhosyn it always makes me sad when the migrations start, the sign of another year soon to end.

Yes, they will all be going now.
One pair of the House Martins at the little corner Co-op just down the road still have a brood in their nest, though the young birds do look ready to leave it. I think those may have reared two broods this year. The other nests in the eaves are empty.
