This is indeed a unique phenomenon

A Piece of Toast

What is it with this piece of toast?
Why do you value it the most?
To preserve it is quite a task
Pickled in vinegar, as of old, in a cask?

There is great sentiment attachment to the crust
A wondrous story unfolds - to tell us is a must
Who was the person that chewed upon it so?
Was it a 'he' but now gone out the door?

Was he tall and handsome with a wicked sense of humour?
He was of royal birth? - no, just a rumour?
Well beggars can't be choosers in this day and age
Ah, I can see it now - toy boy - but all the rage

Still no good to have him in your home for too long
For one thing think about all the dirty clothes and pong
Men like him have primitive desires and are never very clean
On top of that boredom might set in and he could become mean

No, you are better off having packed his bags
Having kicked him out even if he ends up in rags
But the toast he chewed upon is a juicy reminder
You can suck on it now and then and fantasise, kinda

Oi

You leave my piece of toast alone
A privilege to have it in my home
A thing to worship and adore
Not something vile upon the floor

Ah me ~ what shall I do with it ?
Puzzling here while I sit
Composing silly rhyming verse
Chomping away 'til fit to burst

You're right about the crusty exterior
He avoided that ~ thought he was superior
And wanted it cut in little chunks
Such a surprise, this virile hunk

But things are never as they seem
Indeed he sometimes sounds so mean
But underneath that tough persona
Is someone kind with a pleasant aroma

Re: Mark's Poems & Prose

I have a little cat named E
Who sometimes likes to bother me
My toothbrush went AWOL today
And I have searched for it and .... yayyyyyy

There it is out of my sight
And can I reach it ? ... nah .... that's right
Behind the radiator on the wall
Well ****** that, I'm not a fool

My grappling hook and other tools
Have only served to amuse
I'll leave it there for decades now
I know when I'm beat and will not frown

Your mummified toast must be weird to see
I can disembowel it and stuff it for a small fee
Or pickle it, frame it or dunk it in brine,
But I sure am glad that it is not mine.

Re: Mark's Poems & Prose

What an excellent piece on toast Mark, back in tip top form once again, toast will never be the same again after that, it's as if you blew life into a slice of burned bread, not saying Rachel ruins her toast, but what is toast if not slightly burned bread.
I shall raise my glass in a toast of a different kind to you.

No not tall but of pleasant appearance
Sometimes amusing but often serious
Of royal birth ? now there's a question
As yet there has been no suggestion .....
