Re: Derek chauvin sentencing

So what do you think BM what do you think he will get ?

I think he may get 18-20 years and will probably get out in 15 .

The Prosecutor has asked for 30 years .

If there is any justice in this world, Chauvin will get the maximum allowable sentence.
The defense attorneys have had the audacity to ask for probation.

Re: Derek chauvin sentencing

This just in.
Ex-cop Dereck Chauvin has been sentenced to 22.5 years in prison.
Additionally, the judge has ordered that AFTER release from prison, Chauvin may not possess any type of firearm or ammunition, for the remainder of his life. For that purpose, Chauvin will be classified as a "predator".

A landmark judgement .
It is the longest sentence ever given out to a police officer .
The police will have to consider their actions in the future .

I hope you are right. I, however, don't think it will make much difference. IMO, racist cops will continue business as usual. They are deeply entrenched in their ways and are used to lying to protect each other, and they have absolutely no qualms about committing perjury on the witness stand.

There is one small measure of hope. Cops will have to be a tad more circumspect in using deadly force IN BROAD DAYLIGHT, because cell phone videos are everywhere. Night-time, on a dark lonely road, is another matter.

Edit to add
Chauvin still will have to face Federal Criminal Charges for violating the civil rights of George Floyd. this could add 7-10 years to his sentence.
FYI: violation of civil rights is entirely separate from "normal" criminal charges. Many times a person who has been found 'not guilty' in state court has then been tried in Federal Court on Civil Rights violations. The concept of "double jeopardy" does not apply.

Am a bit surprised that the police itself hasn't taken action against him for bringing the reputation of the force into disrepute and an abuse of a position of trust.

One would have thought that if they really did want to send a message, they's throw their hat into the ring as well.

They haven’t got a leg to stand on .
The entire world saw him quite coldly kill that man.

The world minus at least one. Floyd died but I certainly see what took place as a deliberate killing.

Re: Derek chauvin sentencing

I'm taking bets that Chauvin will not live long enough to serve out his full sentence. I strongly suspect that black prisoners are itching for an opportunity to stick Chauvin with home-made knives. It will happen so fast that guards can not stop it from happening. 3 , 4, or 5 black inmates, each with a weapon, and each will stab him 10-15 times.
A man serving "life without parole" has nothing to lose.
