Summer Duvets

What do you have on your bed in the summer?

In the winter I have an ancient 6 tog duvet and in the summer when it is really hot just a sheet with the cotton bedspread I made to match the curtains .
In between is a bit of a muddle .

The duvet is too warm, I sometimes use a blanket but that isn't quite warm enough .

Today I decided to buy a microfibre 3 tog summer duvet .
Can't wait to try it when it arrives. I hope it is worth the money.

Re: Summer Duvets

We use a 12 tog duvet during the cold winter months, change it to a 4 tog in Spring. ....... if we have a hot summer, it's usually just a cotton sheet.

Re: Summer Duvets

I think the 3 tog may be ok for cool summer nights then

When we were on holiday a few weeks ago the duvets in the farmhouse were fantasic, luxuriously thick but light as a feather . They were made of microfiber (tiny fibres like silk) but I am not sure of the tog rating.

Re: Summer Duvets

I have a lightweight quilted cover in ivory and pale green for summer and a heavier comforter in burgundy and forest green for winter. Always seem to use lighter darker colours in cold weather as if that makes things cozier.

I don't know what 'tog' is - not a familiar word this side of the pond.

You will find an explanation of tog ratings here, Sue

Re: Summer Duvets

We use a 9.5 tog in the winter but if OH is cold he puts a folded blanket on his side, I am usually too warm for one. In Summer its a 4.5 one or if its very hot a cotton sheet with a cotton patchwork cover that I made over the top
