Re: American Cops - again

In the same way that a death at the hands of a surgeon or pilot is tragic, even one death at the hands of the police is one too many. As such, the need to train and screen law enforcement officers should always be rigorous and ongoing.

That said, please consider:

The number of U.S. police with public encounters in 2015 was 3,587,400. Deaths (justified or not) by the police were about 1,100.

That means that. the use of lethal force compared to police-public encounters is 0.029%, or 3 one hundredths of one percent.

It's important to know that it's not exactly the Wild West over here. The decorum, respect, and professionalism exhibited by the vast, vast majority of police is tremendously underestimated - and therefore not news-worthy by the insatiable media.

This incident wouldn't be in those stats.

Hi, Annie. I appreciate your empathy very much. No one wants this; it's tragic.

This shooting will be in the statistics and reflect other years of police killings per capita that have remained relatively unchanged over the years - except in the largest cities, where those numbers have dropped.

Why have they dropped? Because larger cities put more funds into training, hiring, oversight, and salaries than smaller communities.

Importantly, concerned citizens also properly amplify tragic deaths.

There is no justification for bad cops, but denigrating the lot of the profession by the media is unjustified.

That is using disproportionate force! And to make it worse TWO
of the cops fired at him as he was allready collapsing to the
ground?

Another question needs to be asked as well, was a weapon found
either on the man or in the vehicle? I have seen nothing stating
this so l assume nothing was found?
What happened to innocent till proven guilty??

I wish I could locate the video of where a cop emptied his 15 shot automatic pistol into a young unarmed black man. 12 of those shots were fired AFTER THE YOUNG MAN WAS DOWN. What did the young man do ? He was not obeying a cop to stand still and was walking away. He had been accused of stealing a candy bar.

Why wasnt the white youth toting an automatic rifle who was
walking away from killing two protesters not shot down Todger??
Two armoured vehicles ignored him although he was waving
at them ??
Seems the quality of the police is not homogeneous in usa?
Some over react others dont react at all??
