Re: Shiny new trade deal with USA?

If it has to be no deal, hopefully the delusional mandarins of the unelected EU will finally come to their senses and do a deal that benefits both.
It still defies belief that they are prepared to go ahead and sacrifice the economies of 27 member states just to prove a point regarding punishment of a member state leaving the bloc!! What planet are these morons living on?

The EU don't care about the economies of the 27, the commission is an unelected, glorified civil service that you can't get rid of. The poorer these 27 nations become, the more power goes to Bussels and with it more control. We saw this with mutualised debt from the Covid pandemic - the next job is to roll out the common tax policy and then the commission has total control over the economies of the 27, how they generate the money for the EU budget and how they must spend it and what on.

Hi

They see their standpoint as protecting their Interests and Industry.

The decision has been made by the Heads of Governments, not Barnier and Co.

They will not give us more than they have given others as that would trigger clauses in existing agreements.

The EU is n protectionist mode, as is Trump's America.

The EU are protecting the interests of the EU commission and the EU Project. They don't give a toss about the member states.

Reports out of Downing Street and from the EU are promising for those of us thinking that no deal is better than being tied to the EU.

The EU are doing their usual end getting the messages wrong, believing instead in media supposition and hoping that there is a split which would be to their advantage.
Not so.
Reports say that Boris was in fact more fervent regarding Brexit than those who are now departed and there is much to suggest corroboration of that with Matt Hancock saying "Our red lines haven't changed and we're preparing for whatever the outcome is".

This from the PM's office this morning:
"The Prime Minister has been clear that we will not accept any proposals in the negotiations that undermine our status as a sovereign, independent country and if the EU don’t respect the sovereignty of the UK we will leave on Australian terms and the Prime Minister is confident that we will prosper"

And Frost saying yesterday:
' that the UK’s red lines had not changed and that any settlement had to be “compatible with our sovereignty” and take back control of “our laws, our trade and our waters”.
“That has been our consistent position from the start and I will not be changing it
”"

Meanwhile, after a weekend of provoking and taunting the UK, Monsewer Barmier is insisting the EU remains "determined" to get a deal.
Well, not from where we are seeing it you're not.
You're determined to see thousands of people suffer all across your supposedly beloved Europe - at what is already a time of great uncerainty for the future - for the sole purpose of trying to protect what is already a failing project.

Britain and the U.S. have signed an aviation deal to ensure flights between the two countries continue next year, replacing a former agreement which covered Britain when it was part of the European Union.

Onwards and upwards.
