Re: Bike ride

Going to mount the camera on the headstock, the camera does a great job of smoothing out the bumps but can do anything about handlebar movement.

Re: Bike ride

Ok, as everyone knows, I have several projects on the go including, the BMW Z3, the Honda CB750 F2N, well another one was started today. Circa 1993, my Mother won a Bicycle in a competition, it was a Raleigh Pioneer Venture, which having requested the large frame version, fitted me perfectly. I did many miles, taking me 8.5 miles each way to work and back, but, in about 2002 it was relegated to the bottom of the garden, where it has stayed for 20 ish years.
Today I stripped it, this week it will go to the Powder Coaters for the frame and forks to be finished in white, I will then spray the random Maroon to the Headstock, and the green to the down tubes and crossbar, then I will contact Raleigh to find out if the original decals can be sourced.
I owe it to the bike, it kept me alive, now i need to return the favour.

Re: Bike ride

Just been to Barry's neck of the woods (Mansfield) found myself a donor Bike, exactly the same model, just one size smaller frame. Its got the ungetable twist gear change and. a good set of decals to get copies made, trouble is, now I've got it home its to good to break so I won't, I'll just carry on looking for replacement parts for my original bike.

Re: Bike ride

What a brilliant project Spitty, and how rewarding to maintain the original paint job. I'll be watching this thread with keen interest....

Re: Bike ride

That's great, Spitfire! I admire renovation projects like that one; the results are so satisfying! What are the chances you would a donor so similar?

You've got me thinking about work on my "girl" a ten-speed light blue cruiser that handles professionally but looks like an old-fashioned cruiser, that is starting to show her age.
