Baked Beans

Just had beans on toast for the first time for a while and for some reason they just didn't taste the same.!!!! They were the well known 57 varieties brand.

The tin doesn't say its changed its recipe so I'm wondering if its my tastebuds or has anyone else thought the same?

I'm sure someone will have an answer or two.

Re: Baked Beans

I find they taste sweeter than they use to. Im sure the recipe will of changed as all manufacturers are now trying to cut back on cost so cheaper ingrediates I expect.
Bake beans on toast with scrambled eggs is one of my favorite meals any time of day and night....

Re: Baked Beans

Joy, they taste a bit odd to me too,
I now have two slices of toast and lots of butter with about ten beans on each slice , that way I can cope with them.

Re: Baked Beans

I thought it was just me as their tom soup & spaghetti is sweet too. It may be that there's less salt in it nowadays.

Re: Baked Beans

How long would a tin last you blimey they would be mouldy before you ate them.
I wonder can you freeze B/beans and if so are they the same when defrosted?

Re: Baked Beans

I believe they changed the recipe some time ago,and got a lot of flack for it. I add pepper and a knob of butter to mine, on toast food of the gods.

Re: Baked Beans
