Re: Baked Beans

It looks like I am not alone then with the taste. There are some interesting suggestions. Must say I didn't know Batchelors made them. I've not heard of Maggi sauce before, maybe it hasn't reached my area yet!

Re: Baked Beans

I know that spaghetti is not beans, but our local M&B store (or is that B&M? can never remember) occasionally sells Smedleys spaghetti in tomato sauce and it is far superior to the 57 varieties, a much thicker tastier sauce for a start.

Re: Baked Beans

My hubby always adds Daddy's sauce to his Heinz baked beans.

I find Heinz beans quite bland, never tried the Branston ones so I think I may give them a try

Re: Baked Beans

Talking about beans. I knew a chap who was working on a contract job in the building trade in London, his landlady was a lovely lady but she was feeding the poor fella too much beans, he was getting them for his breakfast, and his dinner when he came home, this made him very depressed, and as she was such a nice woman he never complained. The site he was working on was right beside his lodgings and one monday morning he decided to end it all and he jumped from the top of the building, very sad. As he lay on the ground dead a crowd gathered and a policeman asked did anyone know the man, the landlady stepped forward and said that he lodged with her. "Was he upset or depressed in any way?" asked the policeman. "Not in the least officer, when he left this morning he was full of beans."
