soap bars to liquid soap

I have just made a soap bar in to a liquid soap.
I was given 10 bars of soap but we always use the liquid stuff, so I went on you-tube and looked how to convert them.
I got one bar and zapped it in the microwave for 60 seconds, then got a 2 ltr empty milk bottle filled with water, pored this in a large pan, bring to the boil, then put the soap bar that now looked a mess into the pan and mixed it with a spoon till dissolved.
Put the pan into our cold conservatory and left it over night.
Next day it had set, I then got my wife's mixer, this one you plug in and it is a hand blender, I zapped it for about 2 to 3 min's.
Then pore it back into milk bottle and half down the sink and floor.
Now wash your hands.

My goodness Reg, have you actually saved any money
using all that electricity to convert the soap to liquid .

Think I would have left the bars as they were and used them .

I have made 1 ltr of soap from 1 bar, would have been 2 ltrs if I had not put most down the drain, yes it was a saving as we don't use bars and our electric my wife pay's for out of her money, oh hang on, she has all the money now.
The good news is I have 9 more bars of soap to play with.
warning (please don't try this at home).

Reg you could use your soap to rub on the door frames to stop the doors sticking and they are great for rubbing on shirt collars and cuffs to remove stubborn stains before they go in the wash .

If it is nice smelling soap you can put it in the draw with your smalls

When we go on holiday we always take a bar of soap with us as neither of us like the liquid soap- you can't rinse it off after you've washed yourself.

I think Reg's post might have been a bit tongue in cheek.

My hands can't take the harshness of liquid soap, so reluctantly I've gone back to bars. There are no ingredients that would make the skin split. (I use disposable gloves a lot when using the lav so my hands are not always being attacked by the soaps.)

Re: soap bars to liquid soap

I have been doing that for a few years with dove soap ends, it's the only soap I can't get to stick together in my soap saver so I separate it and do the heating trick - works well and I would say makes nicest liquid soap I have ever used.
