But would you use your kitchen blender?

Yes, I used a stick blender, it's the only way to get it really emulsified. Washes up fine after wards we aren't talking about putting it straight into a soup afterwards

I got one bar and zapped it in the microwave for 60 seconds, then got a 2 ltr empty milk bottle filled with water, pored this in a large pan, bring to the boil, then put the soap bar that now looked a mess into the pan and mixed it with a spoon till dissolved.
.
You might find it easier if you grate up the tablet of soap using an ordinary metal cheese grater. It then dissolves easily in hot water. I haven't made liquid soap but I often make a laundry gel.

As much as I like to watch my pennies, I have to admire anyone who can be bothered doing all that. I must be too lazy!

Using the microwave also misses not one but two money saving opportunities, the obvious one of saving electricity but also saving washing up liquid by putting the grater in hot water (and shaking it all about) to let the soap dissolve for doing the dishes.

The time saving using the microwave instead of a grater is literally seconds I would have thought, you grate a 100 gm bar of soap in less than a minute.

That may be true but I like to clean the microwave just after doing the soap as it makes cleaning it a whizz. I would guess it's just personal preference really.

It's bars of soap for me every time, Palmolive is your only man, even when I run out of shaving cream I can rub up a good lather with the bar and massage it into my face to soften the bristles before shaving, gives you a very close shave. Would I use any other brand? Not on your Lifebuoy.

I would never have thought of melting soap in the microwave, might have to try it.
haven't used Palmolive or life buoy soap for years Jem. Brings back memories.
