You can tell the year is going on,

and that we're nearly at the ninth month, because

gardens are looking tired
nights are getting cooler
shops are full of 'Back to School'

and

I cleaned up and blackened the woodburner yesteday, and set it ready to light. Hope that won't be for a couple of months but ...

The Rowan berries are all red and I'm switching on the lights earlier.

The nights are definitely closing in, the electric bill will soon start to rise again

Christmas cards, next year's calendars and diaries are appearing in the shops...

Cassie isn't staying out so late in the evenings now...

The bulb catalogues have been dropping through the letterbox...

Christmas Party adverts are appearing in the Press...

The swallows are getting ready to leave. Their parents have already gone. I love the happy chirruping sound they make and could almost cry when they leave.

The goldfinches are back, always a sign, the fireflies are gone, potted mums have appeared at the garden centre. Bulb catalogues galore and back to school sales here too.
And soon the crickets will be chirping.

Had to put light on at 8.30 p.m. tonight

Leaves have started to fall

Not getting sun in back garden as early

Lots of saddies there-but hey, we're alive and kicking

Our local card shop have Christmas cards, paper, teddies, etc......

It's dark earlier......

The hedgerows are full of fruits, berries and nuts and there have been a few mushrooms in the fields..

Leaves are already starting to fall in the high winds we have had for the last couple of days..

All are a sad reminder winter is not far away. I hate the winter

I will be going from summer tops and shoes, right back into sweaters and boots when I get home probably!
