Re: You can tell the year is going on,

These last few comments about leaf colours have perked me up no end! I love autumnal colours - my little spindle tree is already on fire, but the acer has still to start to turn. I must make a promise to myself to go to Hillier's at Romsey for the autumn colour this year.

Re: You can tell the year is going on,

We had our first frost of the autumn last night, I got up just as it was coming light and was surprised to see a touch of white on the heavy dew.

The leaves are starting to turn golden too, I always find this time of year sad..

Last Night Of The Proms tomorrow.
That, together with the start of the rugby season, means it's autumn to me!

Re: You can tell the year is going on,

I know what you mean Meg. Although I love the colours of Autumn and the change in the air, I find it sad as it means that nature is going to sleep and the dark and cold are coming. There is beauty to come with the heavy dews and frosts and maybe even snow, but it's the dark that I find hard to contend with.
