Wrong. We're not Europeans ..bar politically if we'd gone the whole hog with Europe.
We don't even share their currency.
We're an island.
British ... and an independent island.
Which, according to your criteria, is more than can be said for Australia.

Does that make Australia British then?
The Queen is still your Head of State.
Even though you have the dollar.
You're just a big island which tracts of desolate scrubby outback and a few cities... tied to ... the UK.

Hi there Britain ... I'm English.

Read back a few posts regarding tectonic plates.

What? Cos I'm English?
I'm proud to be English ... even though there's not too much these days to be proud of England for as it's no longer notable ... gets gobbled up, parcelled up, shafted and generally shoved into insignificance.

You are calling me an idiot?

Please look at Bruce's image in post #159.

Could you point me towards the tectonic plate boundary (er, those are the black lines!) that runs along the Ural mountain chain?

Oh yes, there isn't one, is there?

Joe you do seem to enjoy making a fool of yourself.

What is there to be proud about? England is country like any other with good points and bad points.

Re: Casual racism

Yes it is , good and bad, ... but I'm still English so I'm not going to feel bad about it. You need to feel that 'spark' inside and connect with a country to say you 'feel' you identify with it.
Just because you don't doesn't mean others don't.

I am half English, my husband is full English and my kids were born in England. What I don't get is why people claim to be proud of where they were born. I was born in the Channel Islands but I am not 'proud' to come from there.
