Re: Wildlife you have seen 2015.

I've only ever seen Muntjac's round here, they are often around the neighbouring villages I was only talking to a lady a week or two ago who is annoyed at them getting into her garden from the local park! They will sometimes run across the country lanes in front of the car too, especially where there is a lot of woodland nearby.
As you say Julie, they are only small, but apparently they still give your car a wallop!

Re: Wildlife you have seen 2015.

We don't have Muntjac here, but we do have black Fallow deer. There is a herd of them in Haldon Forest & we often see them grazing on the grass verge on the main road.

The Fallow are by far the most numerous and
the majority of them are ‘melanistic’. This means that
their coat is dominated by dark pigments, giving them
an almost jet black appearance. However, there are
also sightings of white ones and even one that is a
bright ginger colour.

Taken from this article...

We have also seen the white deer, but on the opposite side of the dual carriageway, which has a no-mans strip of trees & grass in between the East & West bound carriageways.
I don't know if deer have ever tried to cross the main road, but the black deer seem to breed true.

Thankfully still plenty reds in Scotland, they are still hanging on in Northumberland but the Greys are encroaching and i do worry long term fior them. Not seen any amphibians so far still very chilly round here.

Re: Wildlife you have seen 2015.

I like that Nom. A wood carver works in a large country park near me, and he does all that sort of thing. He has done some smashing huge carvings outside the council offices in town as well. There is an elephant and a tiger, and geese among them, they look really good.

About 10 or more years ago, I started a wood carving course myself. Still got all my tools. I only made a big fat budgie though!

The park we were at yesterday at Loch Lomond was covered in molehills. Leaving rich, fertile soil about, everywhere! They're well and truly alive and kicking there
