This April's Pension increase

I have just received my letter telling me what my pension is going to be from 6th April this year.
They have put some on, taken some off, and I will end up exactly £1.01 better off.

I'm so excited, but shall I save it or spend it I wonder?
It should help me enormously with British Gas's attempts to put my D/D's up by £27! (Which I haven't let them do BTW).

I don't even bother to look these days knowing the increase will be small but I am so grateful to be retired and getting a pension at all I don't really mind .

Buy a good candle and keep it handy, or a couple of boxes of matches, always handy to have, that's about all I can think of to get for £1.
Come to think of it £1 is a cheap insult to any pensioner in this day and age, have they no shame left in them at all.

Moaning bliddy pensioners what with your free bus pass winter fuel allowance, free TV, blocking beds in the health service and now another pay rise. Far too many of you we need a cull your all a drain on corporate UK, only kept around cos you all vote Tory.

Have a nice day.

Re: This April's Pension increase

The myth of being a pensioner Nom. I don't know anyone who gets a
free TV service. You have to be 80 and they buy your tv licence.
That's going soon as the Government are changing that for the BBC.
Bus passes are only a expense when you use them. If you don't there
is no expense to the tax payer, oh I forgot I am a tax payer
I am the same MUPS by the time they take something off of you etc
you end up with a quid and yes you can spend it at poundland.
With the age of the official pensioner going up every year you will be
about 70 years old before you get any of these benefits and probably
only use them a few years before you drop dead. So don't knock
the pensioner in this Country as without us you wouldn't be happy
as you are Nom.

Me neither or a bus pass, it would be pretty useless here as there are no buses just a bus shelter. The nearest bus is two miles away.

Free TV at 75, not 80 - but I see that the dear old Beeb are pushing to have the fee tacked on to council tax, so we“ll all pay regardless of age or even if you don“t have TV. Nice little earner.....
