Another good one is Vera.. Much like Frost but enjoyable.

Yes, I like George Gently; well made & interesting plots, but I think they are a bit heavy handed with the 'bad old 60s' style.

Hello Zulu. Were you around then? It WAS very sexist and racist and so on, also there was institutional violence in many of the police forces which we tend to forget now.
Martin Shaw is of that generation so I don't think he would agree with a script that was inherently inaccurate.

I enjoy the series and love the era, no PC in their day! Vera? not keen on the new series at all - will have to stick to my boxed set of the original Ann Cleeves with the lovely Joe...
