I agree BM,eg: Euclid ,100's years BC ,his geometry is still being taught in schools today.
Modern machinery and power tools have caused us to lose our former skills.

You'll find this forum can be a frustrating place

Re: One of the greatest mysteries

Why don't I believe for one second that aliens had anything to do with pyramid building.

1.) The Egyptians had a long, noble history of building and working with stone long before they ever started building pyramids. Surely they must have learned a lot. AND, had more than a few tricks up their sleeves.

2.) The first above ground tomb monuments were not pyramids, but rather somewhat crude mastabas. Mastaba means "House of eternity". The actual tomb was buried far underground, backfilled once the Pharaoh was entombed and only then were mud bricks erected on top of the entrance.

Isn’t it weird, that the conspiracy theorists believe that humans cannot build anything big without the help of some aliens, and yet don’t ask you why or produce any proof.
Note to self.
Buy industrial grade foil for new hat.

Re: One of the greatest mysteries

The first pyramid was built by Pharaoh Djoer in aprox 2,650 B.C.. It used much smaller stones than were used in later pyramids. Djoser's pyramid was NOT ever designed to be smooth sided but rather it was a "step pyramid"
It is said that the step pyramid was designed by the famous architect IMHOTEP.

Notice how small the stones are. Yet stone are still better than mud brick.

Clearly, this was a big step forward over mastaba building.
They are learning. !!!!

PS: side note,
There are numerous much smaller ancient structures on 2 sides of the step pyramid. I was very disappointed to discover that they are littered with garbage ie plastic bottles, plastic bags, chip bags, candy wrappers etc

All history is faith based, there is no point in arguing about it.
