Re: Genetically Modified Food.

Remember that if the entire population on the planet formed a crowd (say, 1sq mtr per person) they would all fit in North Yorkshire and still leave a lot of room.

Where would we be without Glyphosate? The gardeners best friend.

Gee, that gives the rest of us a lot of space to move into. All of Europe, India, Pakistan suddenly became vacant and we still have China to sell all our resources to.

Brilliant idea, love it.

Hey ~ nicely worked out

I prefer my food as 'unmessed about with' as possible. If GM is so wonderful - why are they not using it in the third world where they are starving?
What is america going to do with all their extra GM crops - become even more obese ?

I have a funny feeling we won't have to worry about it, the planet will look after it's self eventually and make it's own way to control us. Doubt any of us will be around to see it but our children and children's children could be in for a bumpy ride.

From the University of the Bleeding Obvious - "GM is too expensive for poor people".

The seas are under immense pressure from overfishing. It amazes me how you can buy as much tuna as you want for instance anywhere in the world apparently. How many tons of tuna are caught and processed each day to sustain that? Lots of fish are no longer available from certain areas from being overfished, and not just fish but crabs - shrimps - all sorts of marine edible life.

Another thing with regard to overfishing sometimes a species can't re-establish itself again after being overfished as other species can gain a much stronger foot hold in the meantime.

If a fish species was genetically modified to be 10x as big in a short time and farmed think of the potential for providing much needed food. Also it would help take the pressure off the oceans.

Your sentence would have been just as informative without the expletive. Please do not swear at me again.

Re: Genetically Modified Food.

I don't like the thought of GM foodstuffs - given we are what we eat, I'm not sure what the outcome would be in a few decades.

I watched a programme that stated that pesticides are not necessary as nature has many deterrents of its own to protect plants. Not sure how true that is though.
