How can that be a scam?
I did add a question mark to the heading. As I said before
never ever take anything as genuine that is sent by email regarding banking.

Fools and their money are easily parted, as the saying goes
with the email to me they aready have done that, hence the query about asking again and being suspicious

Re: Paypal scam?

How can a link to a legitimate login be spam ..... ?

It's what happens all the time if I pay for internet goods/services via PayPal.

Re: Paypal scam?

PayPal also always use your full first and last name.
Scammers tend to say something like . . 'Dear Customer.'

If my bank ever write to me, they always use my full postcode as an extra security measure.

Re: Paypal scam?

Paypal like many others including Waitrose are starting to use mobile phone instant code verification for payments.

I had an email from Paypal too but as with all unsolicited emails I deleted it and didn't click on any links. Instead I went directly to Paypal and added my mobile number to my details.

I am reluctant to give my mobile number to anyone but with this new system there is no choice.

Re: Paypal scam?

The requirement for these one-time codes sent to mobiles has been expected for some time now, this was originally an EU directive. The links below, the first one from 2018, explains what these are. The second link from 2019 gives information about problems experienced when using these codes, possibly when a mobile signal is weak, hopefully this information may be of use to OFF members:
