Auto correct, predictive text and spell checkers generally drive me round the twist. As a qualified keyboard operator in the printing trade for around 40 years before I retired, these 'gismos' are not needed, I often turn them off. On my new MacBook Pro even this can cause problems as the default is 'On' so each time a new file is created or a new application is used it's on again! That might not be the case on an iPad, not using one though, I cannot say for definite.

There are ways and means of 'refining' the auto correct dictionary but it's all very involved. Far better just to turn it all off I reckon, see previous link and also the link below:

There are many publications that highlight Mac problems, one of these can be found on the link below. It is not an up-to-date item but does give ways of 'refining' spell check and therefore the inbuilt dictionary, if you wish to.

Possibly the best advice I have seen given out is to let Apple know of the problem, they can then include a fix on a future update.
