At our local baths the men go swimming after their workouts and the smell of aftershave hangs over some of them like a deadly pall.

Indeed! I've never suffered from asthma but occasionally the amount of overspray hanging in the air makes it hard to breath and causes watery eyes.

I agree with your first comment .
There are a lot of cheap overpowering deodarants about , overpowering Lynx seems to be the most popular so far as I'm able to discern tho the cheap ones smell much the same .
I've come to the conclusion the younger man probably chooses his own while the married ones use those chosen by their partners .

Once in a while (maybe once or twice a year) I get a strange fixation about excessive bodily hair and whack some veet on.
