Nonetheless the Kyle show does attract a very large following and the rehab for addicts do provide probably life saving help for those who take advantage of them. Then there's the proof or otherwise of paternity and the location of lost or relatives.The bottom line is that Television Companies concentrate on audience figures and the placing of the Kyle show in a peak morning slot means that there is a significant demand for it.
Maybe the "Gammons" and their female equivalent are disgusted by it but a lot of people are not.
It's not obscene, it's not pornographic, it's not inciting violence, it's at worst a thing that satisfies those who rejoice in experiencing shraudenfreuder.
Me? I've watched bits of it from time to time and while some of the guests can be amusing by their antics it lacks the journalistic quality of The National Enquirer though both are popular with quite a big sector of the population.
What is emerging is detail about the guy who topped himself. It MAY be that having been exposed was the final straw, it might be that his state of mind should or for that matter COULD have been discovered in advance but when push comes to shove he was not dragged kicking and screaming onto the show.
The best way to deal with this issue should by for the viewing audience to let their opinions be known by use of the off switch on their telly. Once again market forces make the best decisions.

When you really think about it, what's the difference between this kind of exploitation, where vulnerable people are paraded before a baying audience for entertainment, and being entertained by the "lunatics" in the Victorian asylums?
Human nature really hasn't progressed very much has it?

A show that I have seldom watched. It reminded me of similar to what a 'freak show' circus might have been. Making money out of other peoples misery, although I could never understand how people were encouraged to appear on the show and bare all .I hope it is stopped now. Jeremy Kyle was vicious when he wanted to be.... and they call it entertainment ! ??
It shows how a nation can be manipulated and enjoy feeding off nasty stuff, which is a very sad concept .
