Some years ago, I found £60 (3x£20) on the floor by the bar in the Belfry Golf Club.I handed it in to the Management and l requested that if it wasn’t claimed on that evening, would they hand it in to the local police station.
They did but no one claimed it. A few weeks later, the police rang me and said, no one had claimed it and would l come and collect it!
Another time, l found a wallet locally and took it to the local police station. The owners were thrilled that l did and asked if l would accept a box of chocolates. I said, no as l was just glad that they’d got their wallet back.
They insisted and brought me the box of chocolates. Lovely gesture but not so good, when l discovered they were six months out of date!
