Re: Caterpillar to Chrysalis & Beyond.

It hung on ok during the last one, Mups, so hopefully it'll survive.

Re: Caterpillar to Chrysalis & Beyond.

No idea what has happened to the chrysalis, but it's changed again in shape & colour. I wonder if it isn't going to become an adult, whatever it is.
It's very strange!
First two pics inside, last one outside.

Re: Caterpillar to Chrysalis & Beyond.

It looks like twins, Tiff.
Either that, or it's a two-headed Alien.

Whatever it is, I hope we see the finished product. I hope it doesn't hatch and fly away aonenight and we never know the outcome.

Re: Caterpillar to Chrysalis & Beyond.

I have Googled it Mups & I can't find any chrysalis that looks like it. I think it's mutated.
Either that or it has hatched, hence the split & I've missed it.

It doesn't look like it's hatched though? It still looks too 'plump' to be empty surely? Maybe it has changed because it is now gettting ready to hatch?

We can't not know, because that's like someone tearing the last page out of a book!

Time will tell ey.

Have you seen these Tiff, one or two of them look similar in colour perhaps?

I hope it's going to hatch too. I will keep monitoring it.

I already looked at those pages. Cabbage White, is the closest, but even those are not quite the same.

I think it's an alien, Pixie. Perhaps it'll be a two headed butterfly.

It looks like it has a zip going up the front of it .... how strange.

Don't give up on it yet Tiff, there's still time for it to 'wake' up!

Re: Caterpillar to Chrysalis & Beyond.

I saw 2 Red Admirals in my garden yesterday, so the butterflies are venturing out gradually.
