The French did not take the idea seriously, and nothing came of Lloyd George's proposal.

In any case, what is it to do with RMT (other than they're a left-wing union after all the money they can get)? Eurostar isn't British; it's owned by the Frogs. Let them sort it out. They've had 40 years of leeching off of us. We're out of it now.
