Boris, as I remember; with Jacob Rees-Mogg pulling the strings.

The 2017 election that stuffed May and if it wasn't for him standing down candidates in 2019 Boris wouldn't have his majority.

Not to mention the EU Parliament elections where he became the biggest single party within a year of launching the brexit party.

Exactly.

At least we all know about that now.
In an ideal world, Boris would have lost all support from Brexiteers for selling us out.

Unfortunately, he was able to pull the wool over our eyes and pretend to have gained our complete freedom and sovereignty from the EU.

Fortunately, more and more of us are now aware of the truth.

Re: Trade figures since Brexit !!

After loads of off-topic posts let's have something that is more relevant.

"Warship U-turn set to boost British shipbuilding"

This is regarding defence procurement minister Jeremy Quin saying that a new policy will allow us to choose to make our own warships of any decription ourselves.

"Previously, EU procurement rules allowed the Government to restrict bids for warships to UK companies, but the Government had refused to class some Royal Navy support ships as warships."

Unions have argued that constructing the £1.5bn contract the three new 40,000-tonne vessels is vital to sustaining Britain’s shipbuilding industry until the next major round of naval contracts."

Of course, being able to do something and actually doing it are two different things.
So let's see whether or not our own shipbuilders are actually awarded these contracts rather than overseas builders before passing judgement.

Yes I know The Telegraph is mainly subscrioption-only but there is a free trial available.
Failing that the above gives the general idea.

Well, as we have just completed two large aircraft carriers Zaph
was there really a problem with EU rules?
Or was the problem to do with the UK in some way?
Think civil service maybe ??

If you read reports like the one I posted you probably wouldn't need to ask.

It seems to be a bit of both, with the UK being perhaps too wary regarding exactly what constitutes a warship in light of EU rules insisting that all non-warships must be put out to tender.

I'm not entirely convinced that the UK being so careful over exactly what a "warship" is can really be construed as anything other than ensuring that the UK complied with Article 346.
When we were an EU member and more-so now since leaving it is becoming increasingly obvious just how desperate the EU are to impose restrictions and huge fines when their rules are not complied-with to the letter.
There's a pretty good chance that the EU would have found some way of making us pay in the past.
Now we're out of course we can do what we want.
