This means that we are in fact £3B better off.!!
This is exactly what should be happening and we should be happy
about this ??
The UK businesses that are losing out by exporting to EU will now
be encouraged to seek markets elsewhere and hopefully importers
of EU goods will now start to import more from the wider world ??
Obviously Rome is not built in a day, but this trend should be
encouraged imo ??
I have just happened across this thread, which sounds interesting.
The first point I want to make is that I would ignore anything the BBC says. They have been shown to decry anything British and, on the other hand, to support everything the EU do.
As some have said, import and export figures are rather unimportant at the moment. For one thing, we are suffering the consequences of the Covid pandemic, so things are bound to be different from normal.
The other thing is that, although we are supposedly an independent nation with an agreed trade deal with the EU, the evidence I have seen is that the EU are doing all they can to punish us for leaving their empire, and that includes creating problems with trade.
Of course, they are happy for us to buy from them, but will put in place as many barriers as they can to prevent movement in the opposite direction. We should factor this in to our suppositions.
As I have said before, Boris has sold us out. We should leave completely, trade with the world under WTO rules plus the independent trade deals we have now created.
In addition, we seem still to be paying the EU for something. I'm not sure what, but it appears to be of no benefit to us.
As they have not yet formally ratified the 'deal' which we have with them, we should now throw that out and while we're at it, take back all that is ours: N. Ireland and our territorial maritime areas.
They (and Boris) have played us for fools long enough!
