There's a point somewhere along the spectrum where a belief in something turns into an unhealthy obsession, at which point the person(s) involved are actually demonstrating mental health issues.We can easily compare this in other situations:
1/. Showing a bit of interest in someone becoming an infatuation, which ends up (at times) with a sad outcome.
2/. Having a hobby becoming a raison d'etre and someone seemingly unable to function normally.
We've commented on people such as Noah Green before and, at times, even witnessed it to a degree during some discussions on here.
