Quite the contrary since Brexit is about embracing the whole world instead of just the EU.

It's good to see you back posting here even if it is somewhat off-topic.

Have you heard british government payed hundreds of millions into EU's Horizon program? Every day britons are finding new detrimental effects of brexit. And will be for years to come.
Off-topic!

FWIW in reply though your comments are funny in light of EU actions not just regarding vaccines but regarding China and Russia.
The EU have turned themselves into the laughing-stock of the world.

Now if you're going to post here make it about the thread topic please.

Hi

Nope, it is only just starting, the effects will not be known for some time.

Do you mean the effects of Brexit Swimmy?

If so possibly decades but is that going to be proven to be attributable purely to Brexit?
How, exactly?
And is it really going to provide enough of a source of debate over these years when already there is precious little of relevance to discuss?

No, The Brexit forum is still relevant but could change its name to the Independent Britain forum or the Freedom forum.

@Solasch.... if the Brexit deal was better for the EU why are there so many EU tears?
Macron has embarrassed himself with his pesky attempts to punish the UK but has ended up making things worse for Spanish and Polish lorry drivers and EU businesses that export to UK.
The vaccine debacle has been a disaster for the EU and banning vaccine exports to Australia, new lockdowns across the EU, closing the Irish/UK border and riots in Ulster are all a direct result of EU vitriol, anger , incompetence and poor decision making.
Expect more of the same , Solasch, meanwhile the UK will just Keep On Keeping On.

Thanks for your input Moscow.

When do you think a Brexit thread would become irrelevant since we are out (well almost; end April & all that) and as such any discussion now isn't really so much about Brexit itself but about the effects of Brexit?
Do you think it still needs a whole subsection of the forum for that rather than being under (just for example) the Politics & Govt. heading in "Discussions"?

....of course and money spent on scientific research and innovation benefits us all was not wasted just because we have left the EU.
I understand the UK will still be associated with Horizon until 2027 and that association will give UK researchers, scientists and business access to funding under the programme on equivalent terms as organisations in EU countries.

Everyone with any capacity to think logically will have known there would be problems in some areas when we left the EU after so many years of domination, it was never going to be plain sailing from day one .
I reckoned it would take 10 years for the benefits to start becoming apparent.

The EU is a protectionist , badly run organisation and a spent force. This has been amply demonstrated with how badly it has handled the covid vaccination at the cost of many lives.
The future for us is in Asia not Europe .

Whilst l agree with your sentiments Key, l fail to see how we can
claim to have " GOT BREXIT DONE" untill we can administer the
whole of our territory ?
Which may, ormay not take place in another 5 YEARS !!!
And between then and now, there will be another election ??
When all that has happened so far can be reversed ??

Brexit will never be done the way things stand. We have left the EU and now we need to stay out. On one side the EU will be trying to pull is back in (through footholds such as Ireland, Fisheries, Trade Borders and Energy) and on the other, the remain parties such as Labour, greens, Lib Dems etc will join up the day they get into power. Every election will have the EU grandstanding about how easy it will be for us to rejoin, with promises of free money, a new start, reforms and human rights etc.... all designed to decieve the public into voting for a party that will drag us back in.

Every mistake, failure disaster this country makes will be blamed on Brexit and every success because the EU somewhere, somehow had something to do with it. Unless we leave completely from the TCA, that risk is always there. We should tear it up while we have the chance. Another extension without the EU signing up will mean we will be accused of breaking international law to politically damage the Conservative party and divide the nation once more.

Tear it up and walk away.
