I didn't teach him this because I expect him to be disrespectful or because I ever expect him to encounter an edgy police officer, but because for everyone's safety (in any country), this is a protocol that everyone should use. I should say that I did the exact same when pulled over for speeding in a small town late on night, a couple of years ago.
This is a chicken or the egg situation. Are we having more of these incidents with edgy law enforcement because of some cultural attribute or change within that profession, or because there is a lack of respect for authority? Both incidents in the last three days resulted because the person pulled over -REFUSED to do as told. What's the deal with that?
Is respect for authority (people or the law) being taught and modeled as well as it once was? New thread time...
Hi
Two different worlds Surfer.
We have specialist Armed Police, our police and enforcement officers do not routinely carry guns.
We have severe penalties for carrying firearms and handguns are totally prohibited except for certain government employees.
We have our fair share of idiotic Police Officers.
Certain Enforcement Officers have blocked car number plates, not to be stopped without the express permission of a senior Police Officer, what you would call a Captain.
Unfortunately some Police think they are above this instruction and do stop, which causes all sorts of problems.
Permission to draw a firearm has to be given by a senior officer, for targeted operations this can be given in advance but must be signed off.
