American Maine Coon Cats

These large cats just take my breath away. I've read their distant ancestors were Norwegian Forest cats; also lovely felines.

They look lioness like: such statue, such grace.
I’m not sure I’ve ever seen one before.

Bratti, if you're on or near your east coast you probably have seen some or mixed breeds anyway.

Re: American Maine Coon Cats

Noooo wayyy. Oh my. Now I REALLY want one.
That last one looks almost snow Linx ish.
I bet you could train them to walk on a leash.
Wouldn’t that be cool taking a cat like this for a walk?
Why have I never heard of these before?

Noooo. I’ve never seen anything like these but I now want one
My regular size cat might not approve though.
I’m going to look them up now. I wonder how’d they get along with dogs.

Re: American Maine Coon Cats

Look at the size of them. I’m shocked.

Can you imagine driving around with a cat like this looking out the window?
I’d cause traffic accidents.

I’d love to have one of these.

AFAIK (I had friend who bred MCs), Maine Coons are like dogs in some ways - they like being in water, they like lots of attention (but not "cuddling") and they like to follow you around the house and participate in your daily routine. You can walk them (on a harness) but training them is not easy - OTOH, if they like it, you will be walking them forever.

I got to love my friend's cats but I could love 'em and leave 'em - she couldn't leave and, although they weren't "spoiled", they were very demanding .....

Re: American Maine Coon Cats

And in our neck of the woods to purchase one is anywhere from $850 to $1,600. That’s quite a bit but doable.
Sorry to jack your thread CandyCrunch but I’m instantly obsessed.
I can’t believe I’m almost 60 and have never seen one before.
