Re: Junior Doctors strike.....

As everyone below a consultant or GP is a " junior Doctor " don't think they a guillible young Doctors .
If the Doctors are going to work a true 7 day system there will have to be considerably more of them but also lab staff , diagnostic staff etc etc .
Not much point in having the Doctors fully staffed 7 days if nobody else is .
Hope the NHS ( already on its knees ) can afford all that .

Well, at the risk of being taken to task, we could start with Hospital Trust Boards getting their fingers out and ensuring that every Tom, Dick and Harry plus their families coming into this country solely for the purpose of receiving expensive, free treatment is made to pay up before that same treatment is given!

It is the same old story, same old bleating excuses, such as. "It is not our job to become Debt Collectors" Oh yes it b....y well is !! it is taxpayers money that keeps the NHS alive and taxpayers have the right to demand that those given that money ensure that anyone that do not live here and is not entitled to medical treatment except in accident and emergency, should pay for it. Every other Health Authority in every other country seems to manage quite capably to collect payments from those not entitled to free treatment. Why on earth can't we? Pure laziness that's why. Extra work that's why.

We could also start by losing a layer or two of fat-cat management and put the money where it should be used - on the front line services.
I have a friend who worked for the local council as a Human Resources Manager. She applied for and was successful in gaining the same position at a local hospital here but the difference in salary was astronomical ! almost double of what she was previously earning, and she was earning a lot

The problem with the NHS is that it is not their money they are spending so they spend, spend, spend, all on what they should not be spending it on, then they go hand out with begging bowl for more. If they got rid of the unwanted, the unnecessary, collected monies where it should be collected from Health visitors, there would be more than enough to cover the cost of all the extra departments required to run an excellent 7 day week NHS for it's patients.

It would seem that the NHS Trust managers are running Jeremy Hunt's policy into the sand - shame!!!

As I have now learned via this article, Foundation Trusts are independent of the NHS and may decide to refuse to adhere to the new contract disgracefully having to be forced into being to ensure that Junior Doctors work on a Saturday with a nice big salary raise. One wonders however, how these same arrogant Trusts will manage without the taxpayers money that presently supplies them with their annual budgets?

Strange this article omitted to mention that these Doctors, if asked to work perhaps one Saturday in four with extra pay, would still have one complete day off during that same week, How selfish, how callous, to continue to use the exuse that this is all about patients welfare, well-being and safety as being the main reason for not wanting this contract.

If anyone objects to people's right to be treated the same seven days a week instead of five days a week as is the case now, then they must be happy to go along with what most people are now realising - that it is all about Junior Doctors own self-interest and nothing else.

Would be interested to hear comments from any doctors/former doctors on here. From previous posts, it seems that government spin is working.

Yes, it would be interesting to hear from doctors/former doctors to get their point of view.
Contrary to the government spin working, I would hazard a guess that Junior Doctors are fast losing the support of the British people that are being left to suffer longer in silence due to their long-awaited operations being cancelled due to the callous actions of those living on a different planet to the rest of us.

No Ania darlin' - the vast majority of the population still blame the Government and Jeremy Hunt for the fiasco.

And in answer to your point about hearing from medical professionals themselves - this is from the 'Guardian'.

Re: Junior Doctors strike.....

Perhaps you ought to read the links you put up.
This sounds like a eulogy to the NHS and has I far I see nothing to do with junior doctors who have shown themselves to be greedy and uncaring .
What it's all about from their point of veiw is more money.
