Re: Obesity to be a big problem soon.

So at 700 calories, you are eating nearly half of what they say you need?

How do you work out calories in home made food like casseroles etc? I wouldn't know where to begin.

Calories are for folks who like numbers (like me), the fat factor should also be considered, and what type of fat it is, this is just an opinion, and not advice.

On 700 calories a day you don't get to eat casseroles but it's easy working out the totals you just add up the individual ingredients. I usually use myfitnesspal for the ingredients.

Just about to start a 700 calorie phase again, no sugar very low carb mostly vegetables and I can have 2 eggs a day and about 2 ounces of cheese a week.

Have I missed something??-700 calories a day is a starvation diet. Your body will go into a protection mode.

Please do think again.

I think it would be a little hard to explain my route to work, so I'm not going to try. Let's just say I have to use the freeway to get to work and not only are bikes and pedestrians forbidden, but I'm NOT gonna go out there and get my butt hit by a car.

That's all I'm going to say on it, seriously. Some people are ABLE to walk or ride bikes to work. For me it would be impossible.

And anyway, with this day and age and the forms of transportation that we need to get from point A to point B, it's a pointless argument.

First jobs 40-60 years ago (depending on ones age) is a LOT different than it is today.

No need, I go every day on foot and just buy what I need for the next day. Perhaps its the attitude that is the problem? The walk each day might do you good.

I have a car but use it rarely - prefer public transport or walking. When I do use my car it is usually for a trip exceeding 500km
