I was actually talking about the Government and the Councils.
Not the people living in homes and using a dingy to get around their ground floor levels or basements or outside p*ss houses.

So was I Longfellow, government seems to spend our money on projects like hs2, there’s lots more could be done to help lessen the effects of flooding/ severe weather..

Well, 'Sierra' is how I heard it pronounced on a TV news item earlier!

What's in a name anyway? The great storm of 1987 did not have a name and that was far worse than this one. I was working in London that night until all the electricity went off, I recall the 25-mile drive home at 02.30am was horrendous. No street lamps or traffic lights and fallen trees everywhere – not recommended that's for sure!

I'd tend to say .... Key ....ar...ra.
But the '1987 storm' is far more precise. All this names nonsense is daft.

'corse, evermun member tha Grate Wave in tha yere of owr Lord 1607:

9am, 20th January 1607. A massive wave devastated the counties of the Bristol Channel. It came without warning, sweeping all before it. The flooding stretched inland as far as the Glastonbury Tor. 200 square miles of Somerset, Devon, Glamorganshire and Monmouthshire were inundated. Up to 2,000 people died. Yet for 400 years, the killer wave of 1607 has been forgotten.
