Well the American model is going to crash. It was only a matter of time and Covid has sped up what was inevitable.The first thing they teach you in economics is that man has unlimited wants and the world has scarce resources. There's a limit beyond which you cannot move to satisfy those wants and generate growth. We have used global disparity to create artificial growth here since the 80s. That's been close to reaching full capacity in the next n years so politics are moving to protectionist agendas to try to shore up national markets in a pretend economic boom. Which won't last.

What now matters is to put them back in their right place in society which will probably mean civil war which appears to have started.
Dominic Cummings seems to have understood this and in the UK the most important first act after BREXIT is to put the civil service back in the box that they should be.
Unfortunately right now BREXIT, ideally a no-deal BREXIT, should be put to bed first and then attention can be focused on what can be much easier achieved with the toxic legislation from the EU out of the way.
I believe that we will be seeing a very great deal more of DC once the less than useless transition crap is ended.

Mr Cummings - who took time off for an undisclosed medical operation recently - donned a smart suit for the first Cabinet meeting called by Boris Johnson after the summer holidays.
It was a stark contrast to his usual work attire, which typically involves a T-shirt and jogging bottoms or jeans.
Mr Cummings has introduced a new 'mission control' style set-up in the Cabinet Office as part of a push to sharpen up the Whitehall machine.
IIRC, the last time I saw Cummings in a suit was when he did a "runner" from Downing Street to Durham ......

Probably Cummings sees himself as "Flight Director" - hence the suit .....
