Re: Northumberland

I know the Long Nanny very well, the wardens live there through the breeding season in tents in the Dunes. I used to take them some wine and beer in my backpack as a thank you for there efforts. Tis a long walk from the car park, the Little Terns have a hard existence due to high tides washing out the nests which are often predated by foxes, kestrels etc.

Re: Northumberland

The Long Nanny is a great place to see rare birds as its not far from the Farne Islands which act as a platform for migrant birds to stop and rest before journeying on to shore.

A couple ive photographed at this site.

A wintering Ring Ouzel.

And a very rare lesser Grey Shrike.

Arctic Terns are stunning birds and one of the worlds great travellers.

The Arctic Terns certainly are striking looking birds. I'd never seen them before.

Re: Northumberland

Hi

Still no Noms, so still looking for them.

It seems they may be migratory, plenty of Noms in the USA, there is even a song about Nom babies over there.

It is a delightful program to watch however.
